Puerto Rican Arepas
In my geography, we have learned about North America and its countries and its cultures. Puerto Rico is a small country that is considered a U.S territory and not a state, its capital is San Juan. Arepas are a bread like substance that you can cut in between and fill anything you want, some people make sauce to dip it in, others add avocados and meat inside like a sandwich.
Here is how you make it! Ingredients: Water, Salt, Sugar, Butter, and all purpose flour. We only had a few all purpose flour so we used coconut flour and all purpose flour.
First mix all the dry ingredients, and then add in your water, don’t add too much we want our consistency to be stretchy. Once it is kneaded with your hands and is stretchy we can roll it into small balls and flatten it, don’t make in too thick since it needs to cook on the inside as well. Then cook it in a frying pan with oil, make sure it’s golden brown and you are done! Now you can add any topping or sauce you would want.
