Mural Painting
My mother has signed our family up for a mural painting session somewhere in her old college, which is the University of the Philippines. And I have never done a mural painting There was a morning session before us, so some artworks were unfinished and we had to take over and complete them in our style. We were accompanied by the Flores family, My brother John and his friend Dos were ecstatic to see each other. We picked one of the walls to paint on, John’s friend Dos picked a child building a house meanwhile we picked a child drawing. It was a bit difficult to put the paint on the wall since it was slightly transparent, we had to layer the paint multiple times for it to cover the background.

I started to outline the hair, while my mom suggested that there should be a window behind the girl for the background, and started to work around that part. At first, my dad didn’t participate and only critique the mural about the girl looking off until he finally joined in and started fixing the girl’s facial features, on the other hand, my sister Jilliane wanted to help and was painting the girl’s shirt and my brother John was painting the stationary. There were some problems while doing this, you can only get a limited amount of paint at a time and the paint colors would be a bit off-shade so we had to reapply the new batch of paint so the color was consistent. In the middle of painting the mural, more people came and joined in the activity, it slowly started raining which didn’t hinder our progress since we were under a roof, but little did we know the wind was pushing the rain from the outside and washing the paint away. We had to reapply the paint multiple times since some of them were being washed away and we had to hurry since we are about to leave soon. My mom did the backgrounds, my dad and I were doing line art, and my siblings were running around playing with their friend Dos while his mom had to finish their mural. When were finally finished, the final product was amazing, I would like to be biased and say our work was the best among all of the others. When we were leaving, we passed by the other people still working on their murals, one of them did their version of the starry night by Van Gough, and another one did some pretty realistic flowers in their background.
