Red Velvet
Why are we baking a cake you ask? In my book I learned about that God loves us even though we can’t see him.
The book has a story, a story of two boys talking about God. Jeremy asked Ben what he learned at school, Ben told Jeremy that he learned about evolution and how the world began, not the things he learned in Sunday school. Jeremy asked Ben If he believed that God created the world and everything in it, Ben wasn’t so sure. Jeremy said “But God does exist, he exists because he talks to us.” “Well I never heard God talk.” Ben said.
When they got to Jeremy’s home, Ben asked if Jeremy’s mom cooked the brownies , but Jeremy said “My mom? I don’t think so. I think they just baked themselves and came out of the oven.” Ben laughed, “You know brownies can’t make themselves any more than..” “Any more than the earth made itself?
The boys found a note left by Jeremy’s mother, it says “Dad’s in his office, and I’m at the store. I’ll be back around 2:00. Help yourselves to the brownies. I took them out of the oven right before I left. Hope you like them. Love, Mom.”
Ben told Jeremy his mom was great, but Jeremy says “ How can I be sure she was the one who made it? How do I know if she really loves me or not? Just because she said so in a note?” Ben was flustered, Ben told Jeremy his mother made him brownies, wrote a note that said she loves him, and Jeremy is still doubting these things?
When Jeremy’s Mom came home, she asked how were the brownies and Ben said “See! She made the brownies, just like the note said.” And Jeremy knew that his mom made the brownies. Ben realized and said , “And just like your mom told us in person she made the brownies and loves us, God told us in person he made the earth and loves us when Jesus came down to earth.” Jeremy was proud of Ben for understanding the lesson, Jeremy said “God is always speaking and telling us how much he loves us. He speakers through silent words, his creation.”
The book told us to make brownies, but we only had red velvet mixture, so we use that instead, and now I have proof that I bake red velvet cupcakes!
