Pilgrims Progress

Pilgrims Progress is my bookclub book topic, we are not finished yet though. The story begins about this man named Christian, who tries to warn his neighbors that there is something bad happening to the town and that they should go to the celestial City, but no one trust him or believe him, so he goes tell his wife and kids and the wife doesn’t believe him too. Christian leaves the town to be safe, and meets other temptations and bad people who tries to lead him off his path, he meets companions and lose them. He learns from his mistakes and continues on his journey. I liked Christian’s character development and the new characters being introduced. My favorite character is faithful, he helps and accompanies Christian on his journeys.

In my book club we talk about what we read and have activities related to the story. This time we were assigned to paint the bottle from the a story we watched, the story’s name is The farmer and the seeds, a farmer threw his seeds on different kinds of soil, some plants grew, some withered, some seeds were eaten by birds. It shows that the plant’s growth depends on the condition of the environment and the soil it was on, just like how our environment affects our love and understanding of God.

And we had another assignment, it was to make a shield, which Christian used to fight Apollyon. So I made his shield with some vines because I referenced it from other historical shields, I also added the cross, to show his faith in God, and I added the bread and wine, referencing the blood and body of Jesus.

We also had to make a map, the places where Christian went, I got some inspiration from google and the book, I used watercolor and liners for the map. I also burnt it a bit at the edges for some character and make it look old. I added some orange color to have that pirate map vibes, which I may have over done it, but I am satisfied with my map. I enjoyed working on these art projects, and sharing ideas with my classmates. I hope I can do more book club projects like this, and discover more fun and appealing books from my book club.
